01 / Why Spoke

Social relationships
should survive software.

Your profile and connections should belong to you, not to whichever social app happens to be popular today.

    Bring your identity

    Spoke uses the identity already protected by Jolt. It does not create another username or ask for your private identity key.

    Approve the app

    You choose what Spoke may do. Jolt checks every request before publishing a post, reading your contacts, or opening a private message.

    Keep your connections

    If you replace Spoke with another compatible app, your identity and content do not need to disappear with it.

Your name, photo, bio, and links are published under your Jolt identity rather than trapped inside a Spoke account.

Add people directly. Spoke gathers their posts into a feed on your device instead of asking one company to build the timeline.

Replies form conversations that people can exchange directly. Spoke arranges them into the familiar thread you see.

Jolt locks each message for its recipient before it leaves your device. Spoke never receives the keys that protect your identity.

03 / Architecture

Spoke is the app.
Jolt is the home.

Spoke makes the social experience. It uses a scoped session with your local Jolt daemon, which holds your identity, checks every request, and joins the Jolt network.

How Spoke works with Jolt Spoke uses a capability-scoped session with the local Jolt daemon. The daemon signs and verifies protocol data, then communicates with Jolt peer nodes and Jolt relay nodes. Spoke talks only to the capability-scoped App API. The local daemon keeps the keys, signs and verifies protocol state, and communicates with peer or relay nodes.

Spoke cannot run standalone. Jolt holds your identity, joins the network, and asks you to approve Spoke before the app can open.
